FAQs
Did you know you can have your hygiene at any time without having to see the dentist first. Combined appointments with the dentist and hygienist always make sense and can prevent multiple visits. However, if you wish for a quick ‘spruce up’ before an event you are more than welcome to drop in!
Your hygienist will make your appointment as comfortable as possible. Sensitivity is normal with hygiene treatment, if you suffer from gum disease or periodontitis then your clinician can discuss the option of administering local anesthetic.
Please note: Your hygienist would not normally numb both sides of the mouth at the same time. Therefore, if you have widespread sensitivity, we will recommend the treatment spread over multiple appointments.
You can eat or drink as normal after your appointment, however we would advise you to avoid tea, coffee, and any high staining foods for 1-2 hour’s
It’s different for every patient, generally we recommend at least 6 monthly visits with the hygienist, however your recall will be discussed with you at your appointment
Some medication can cause certain side effects to your mouth such as dryness, inflammation, and bleeding more than normal. Medication can allow us to tailor treatment to your specific needs. Please update your medical history prior to attending and remember to inform us of any changes.
