    Heart Lips

    So, what are Heart Lips?

Heart Lips are unique and can only be offered by persons trained to do so. It is limited to those who have qualified and have permission to offer the treatment, and fortunately for our patients this is the case at DHA. It is another approach for treating lips to create volume and definition. Being a highly technical and specific way of treating the lips, this exclusive treatment restores youthful volume and creates an amazing natural appearance. Qualified persons who have trained with Dr Bob Khanna can only offer Heart Lips.

    Lip Filler FAQs

We pride ourselves in only ever using registered and medical graded products. Lip fillers also vary to that of facial fillers. For example, we would use a filler with a ‘high G prime’ (firmer, more volume) for cheeks, whereas for lip filler we would use a variation of this to maintain the ‘smooth’ and ‘softer’ appearance that should be associated with lips. However, it is dependent on the patient, which is why our treatments are bespoke.

The effects of Dermal Fillers gradually fade as the body breaks down the product naturally, but this will last on average between 4-12 months, depending on the treatment area. Once again, this varies from patient to patient, taking into account genetics (metabolism), lifestyle (including extrinsic factors like smoking) and again the area treated.

Dermal fillers are made up of a substance called hyaluronic acid, something which is naturally created by the body. Thanks to its ability to store moisture in large amounts, hyaluronic acid is responsible for giving skin its plump and hydrated look (aiding in production of collagen and elastin). Once injected, it can add volume and contour to particular areas of the face and body. Alongside this it can replenish your body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid, which diminishes as you age. The thicker the hyaluronic acid gel, the more volume you can expect to see and the longer it will last. Dermal and lip fillers also contain Lidocaine, which aids with the pain management when used.

You will see instant results after your Dermal Filler treatment. Recovery time will vary, but usually you can return to day-to-day activity with slight caution straight away. Your therapist will tailor a programme and advice will be given. Post-treatment there may be some tenderness, redness, bruising and swelling to the site. This is very normal and will subside, usually within a few days.

We use specific techniques for particular parts of the face and body, including the use of needle and cannula. Small doses are placed accurately, and in differing ways to achieve the best results. Everything will be controlled, taken with time to avoid bruising and pain. You will never feel rushed at DHA. We will prepare the area with a strenuous disinfectant regime to ensure infections are kept to a minimum and will place an anaesthetic topical cream to help with pain management.

As long as you follow procedure and don’t ‘over do it’ as such, you should be fine. It comes down to how much treatment you are having and how regularly. Regular lip fillers with large amounts of filler over time will certainly stretch the skin. Cannula use instead of needle work will also reduce the amount of scarring your lips will endure if you have regular treatment. Just remember ‘LESS IS MORE’ and start with small amounts. With facial fillers, we are encouraging Hyaluronic Acid production in the areas treated so this should not be the case but once again, over treatment of specific areas could cause long-term issues.

Dermal fillers and lip fillers basically restore lost volume to your face/lips and plump areas, so that deep-set lines appear smoother. Sadly, as we get older, our bodies stop producing collagen.
