Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that has become hugely popular. It involves using a scalpel to gently scape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion but it is not as scary as it sounds. The treatment is not painful or aggressive. It also eliminates that annoying peach fuzz that can cake up in make-up and be enhanced by harsh lighting and allows for greater penetration of skincare products to create a flawless canvas for make-up. It is often used to help prepare the skin for other treatments such as laser and chemical peels.

Dermaplaning can be used for all skin types with the exception of acneic skin. It is also a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the bloodstream.

Treatments usually take around 30 minutes, are pain-free, with zero downtime. After the treatment your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure, so be sure to ask your therapist about the best broad-spectrum sunscreen to use.

The positive effects are immediate – your skin will look more radiant with a more even tone and texture.
