Dental Hygienist Near Me

Are you look for a professional Dental Hygienist near you?

Why Choose Dental Health and Aesthetics?

Our Dental Hygienists provide each of our patients with a careful individual assessment of their risk factors for dental disease. Using this we can then tailor a treatment plan that suits your needs. We can do this during an oral health assessment. We will show patients of all ages the best ways to keep teeth and gums in excellent health allowing you to prevent problems in the future, looking at:

  • Toothbrushing
  • Interdental cleaning
  • Using mouthwash
  • Managing bad breath
  • Fluoride advice to prevent decay
  • Dietary advice
  • Reducing stain
  • Manage Sensitivity

We also provide more tailored treatment for gingivitis and advanced periodontal disease. These conditions include bleeding gums, sore gums, recession and mobility of teeth. This may include more site-specific deep cleaning to tackle gum disease. This can be done using specific tools and under use of local anaesthetics to limit any pain during the treatment (we can use this for routine hygiene appointments also if you suffer with sensitivity). If we feel further treatment is necessary, then we may then refer you onto a specialist as part of the treatment process.

Your hygienist appointment will typically begin with an initial oral hygiene check to assess the overall health of your teeth and gums. This inspection helps the hygienist to decide what is required during cleaning.

This is then usually followed by ‘scaling’ where build ups of tartar, plaque and stain on the surface of the teeth and gum lines are carefully removed using special tools. Your hygienist will then give your teeth a thorough polish to remove superficial stains on the surface.

If there are signs of decay, then they may also apply a fluoride or antibacterial gel and a referral to your dentist will be made.

Don’t worry if you are nervous. You are in control and our dental care professionals have years of experience managing nervous patients and limiting any pain or sensitivity during your appointment. Visit u son Facebook for more information.

At the DHA Leigh-On-Sea Essex, our hygienists work to help prevent and treat gum disease. This is one of the UK’s leading causes of tooth loss;

There are two major causes of tooth loss:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Periodontal (gum) Disease

With a good oral hygiene regime and regular dental hygiene appointments, you can prevent these conditions or deal with them in a quick and easy manner. Regular visits to see one of our friendly dental hygienists, alongside regular dental check-ups, will help you and your family maintain a healthy mouth and achieve that smile you always wanted.

What are the benefits of having a hygiene appointment?

  • Remove plaque and bad bacteria and help manage gum disease – bacteria in the mouth are also related to other medical conditions such as Diabetes and Heart Conditions
  • Stop Calculus formation (tartar) which is a hard plaque – something only a dental care professional will be able to remove
  • Remove staining caused by tea/coffee/dark foods/ Smoking
  • Oral assessment–we can assess any tooth decay/tooth problems at an early stage
  • Oral Cancer Screening with every appointment

Periodontal (gum) disease – from £60 per session (sessions are a minimum of 30 mins and you may require more than one session)

There are many reasons we can become vulnerable to gum disease and certain things will more greatly influence and determine the extent and speed of its progression, such as medical background, social background, family history or poor oral hygiene. Gum disease falls into two main categories, Gingivitis and Periodontitis.

Gingivitis

Involves the bleeding and swelling of your gums. In its early stages, it is totally reversible with regular maintenance and a good oral hygiene routine, however, if it’s persistent and left un-treated it can turn into Periodontitis.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is an infection of the tissues surrounding your teeth, including ligaments and bone. Any damage to these tissues is permanent and can eventually result in the loss of teeth.

Our dental care professionals can assess your oral health using a comprehensive screening process which allows them to determine and recommend the most appropriate and effective treatment plan.

Note: We strongly recommended you try to see a dentist regularly, we can also refer for specialist treatment if necessary.

Please note that if local anaesthetic or radiographs are required, additional fees may be chargeable. If a full assessment is required, a fee will be discussed with you by the dental care professional, depending on the treatment requested initially

  • Full oral health assessment and screening, which may include radiographs
  • A tailored treatment plan for the management of periodontal (gum) disease
  • Deep cleaning sessions, including local anaesthetic if necessary
  • Extensive tailored oral hygiene advice and demonstration with ongoing support for the management of periodontal (gum) disease
  • Direct referral to a specialist if necessary

Note : Please note that if local anaesthetic or radiographs are required, additional fees may be chargeable.
