Lip Filler FAQS

What You Need To Know About Lip Filler?

DHA, based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex is committed to providing a perfectly patient journey. Part of this journey is doing your research.

So, I have done some research for you! Below is a list of what we feel are the most FAQs regarding lip filler.

  • Who can administer lip filler?

Unfortunately, UK regulation for administering lip fillers is loose to say the least. You don’t have to be a doctor or medically trained. You need to have a certificate in lip fillers and that’s it. You don’t even need a registered premise. It’s so important to ask about qualifications. Pick a Practioner who is medically trained to some capacity and is regulated. Non-medical administrators don’t have regulated bodies.

  • How does lip filler work?

Lip fillers restore lost volume and definition to your lips. As we get older our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, both of which contribute to the hydrated youthful look.

  • Can you dissolve lip fillers?

Yes, using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase (Hyalase). If they don’t have this in the clinic then you shouldn’t have your treatment.

  • Are you insured?

Always check this for peace of mind.

  • What type of filler do you use for Lips?

Do some research on the brand. Is it reputable? Are they FDA approved? Always question why it is so cheap if it is an offer. At DHA we use Restylane products.

  • How long do lip fillers last for?

This will last up to 6 months, depending on the type of treatment and the person.

  • What is lip filler made up of?

Lip fillers are made up of a substance called hyaluronic acid, something which is naturally created by the body. They also contain lidocaine to help with pain management (phew!)

  • How quickly will I notice results of lip fillers?

Recovery time varies but usually you can return to day to day activity immediately. Post treatment there may be tenderness, bruising and swelling. This is normal and will subside within a few days.

  • How are lip fillers administered?

There are specific techniques for particular results required including the use of needle and cannula. At DHA, Small doses are placed precisely and accurately in differing ways to achieve amazing results.

  • Will my lips be ‘loose’ or ‘saggy’ if I keep having lip fillers?

As long as you follow procedure and don’t ‘overdo it’. It comes down to how much treatment you are having and how regularly. ‘LESS IS MORE’ . Remember, sometimes the damage done is irreversible.

  • Are lip fillers safe?

We carry out a thorough examination and medical history to ensure you are suitable for treatment, so yes. As long as you follow the pre and post-operative information and you chose a registered and safe Practioner.
